Sustained-release vitamin C
Vitamin C is involved in a variety of vital metabolic processes by means of various mechanisms.
Since vitamin C cannot be produced by the body itself, it must be consumed through the diet. Vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamin C, especially citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons and grapefruit. Larger amounts of vitamin C can also be found in animal liver and kidneys, but not in meat, cereals or dairy products. Cooking, soaking, reheating and storing (including freezing) food can greatly reduce its vitamin C content.
